5/29/09 - Sanofi Pasteur this week received the seed stock of H1Ni swine flu to begin an emergency run of vaccine under a US contract. This facility was licensed four weeks ago by the FDA to begin producing influenza vaccines. Flu vaccine production relies on old technology--inoculation of large numbers of chicken eggs, incubating them, harvesting egg contents before they hatch, then separating the components.
